Worship

Our worship ministry at Southgate intends to make much of God. We do this by promoting a lifestyle of worship that includes the head (mind), heart (emotions), and hands (service).

Our music is primarily contemporary, but we use a variety of musical styles in praise of the Lord. If you are interested in using your vocal, instrumental, audio/visual, or sound system talents to glorify God, come join us!

For more information regarding any portions of the worship ministry, contact Pastor Jason Naill.

Choir

If you like to sing as a way to worship God, consider joining the choir! This vocal ensemble meets on Wednesdays from 6:40-8:10 p.m., September through December, and sings in Sunday morning worship. No auditions are required. At rehearsals, which have a small group feel, the choir devotes time to practice music, pray for one another, and discuss devotional thoughts on biblical worship.

Orchestra

If instruments provide your “voice” for worship, the orchestra may be a great fit for you. The orchestra rehearses twice a week: Wednesdays from 7:30-8:10 p.m. and Sundays  for a sound check 8:15-9:00 a.m., September through May. No auditions are required, but sight-reading is a necessary skill.

Band

This ensemble of percussion, guitars, strings, and piano plays in Sunday morning worship services. The band meets on Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m. for a 45-minute rehearsal/sound check, May through August.

Praise Team

Members of the praise team vocal ensemble support the worship pastor during worship services. From September through April, set praise teams are established to serve on a rotating basis. During the summer months of May through August, mixed teams are assembled, selected primarily from the choir.

Individuals are selected for musicality (strong singing voice, ability to read parts, blend vocally, etc.), faithful service in ministry, and Christian testimony. Rehearsals for the set praise teams are on Wednesday from 6:00-6:40 p.m., September through December, and 6:40-7:45p.m., January through May. The praise team vocal ensemble also has a 45-minute sound check Sunday at 8:15 a.m.

Special Music

The worship pastor selects music and artists for both instrumental and vocal special music. Special music is rehearsed according to the group dynamic and specific needs.

Audio/Visual Team

If you are skilled in audio/visual technologies, we encourage you to join this ministry! This team of technicians assists with operating the presentation software, displaying lyrics and videos during the worship service. Faithful attendance during the Sunday 8:15 a.m. sound check is required. Training is provided through the worship pastor and through job shadowing during the morning worship services.

Sound Team

The sound team operates all the sound system needs for the Sunday morning worship services. If you are skilled in mixing sound and running a sound board, we encourage you to join the team. The sound team leader provides training for new team members.
